CgMs have provided extensive Planning and Historic Buildings services to Network Rail, project managing applications to redevelop London Bridge Station to change its platform layout, develop a new street-level concourse, and provide substantial operational improvements.

The site, surrounded by a large number of listed buildings and conservation areas, includes within its boundaries two listed buildings and one building identified as a positive contributor to the Tooley Street Conservation Area. The applications relating to this redevelopment have sought the necessary demolition of the Grade II listed Train Shed of 1864, and the aforementioned positive contributor to a Conservation Area, as well as to better reveal the significance of other areas of the station’s fabric.

Providing advice for a large site, with a large number of heritage constraints, CgMs’s Historic Buildings team have added value to the project, appraising the site and its surrounding area; assessing impacts; providing advice to the design team; and undertaking discussions with officers, English Heritage and amenity societies and local interest groups.
