Lisle Lane, Ely

This study related to a proposal for two retail units on a site close to the centre of historic Ely and within Ely Conservation Area. The critical conservation issue was the impact of the proposed development on the historic place and, in particular, on atmospheric views of the cathedral – a Grade I listed building that dominates this small fenland city.

Westminster Abbey

CgMs have been retained to provide historic building recording services at this significant site. Our work has included the recording of the South Aisle Roof structure and elements of the Jerusalem Chamber.

Places of Worship

The CgMs Historic Buildings Team was commissioned by English Heritage to carry out a sample assessment of places of worship in need. This is part of the wider Heritage at Risk (HAR) project, which is intended to provide evidence of the risks to all heritage assets with the aim of guiding English Heritage in targeting its resources in this field.
