Electricity Transmission Consents Support

In response to requests for connections from new electricity generators, including proposed nuclear power stations and wind farms, National Grid is bringing forward proposals for a number of enhancements to its high voltage (400kV) electricity transmission network. These schemes are being promoted under the new regime introduced in the Planning Act 2008.

Kensal Green substation, London

As part of its London Tunnels programme to enhance electricity supply to the capital, National Grid plans to construct cable tunnels carrying 400kV circuits between St John’s Wood and Willesden and between Wimbledon and Kensal Green.

National Grid, Hurst to New Cross Cable Tunnel Connection

CgMs provided to National Grid an external consents officer, whose role it was to secure the necessary permissions for the surface elements associated with a proposed 400kV cable tunnel between Hurst, in the London Borough of Bexley and Eltham, in the London Borough of Greenwich.

National Grid, Greater Gabbard Offshore Windfarm to Sizewell Cable Connection

CgMs provided to National Grid an external consents officer, whose role it was to secure the implementation of an appropriate connection between the proposed on-shore sub-station for the Greater Gabbard off-shore windfarm and National Grid’s substation at Sizewell.
