Job Vacancy - Associate Director/Senior Associate Director

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/SENIOR ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR (ARCHAEOLOGY) - NEWARK

We are seeking to expand our Newark archaeology team due a continued increase in workload. We wish to appoint an individual who will complement the existing team. That individual is likely to have at least 7 years professional archaeological experience, latterly managing large/complex schemes. We will also consider applications from experienced Planning Archaeologists looking to move into consultancy. Of course if you are already a consultant with an established client base we would be delighted to talk with you too.

The individual that we are looking to recruit will be required to show a good working knowledge of the archaeology of England and ideally of the Midlands. They will be up to speed with current archaeological policy and guidance and be able to provide robust technical advice to a wide spectrum of clients. They will be able to assess the archaeological potential of sites and to communicate that assessment clearly. This is a hands on job following projects from desk-based assessment through to management of post-excavation.

If appointed you will be expected to market to develop the business and bring in new clients at the same time as managing a significant number of projects of varying sizes. You will use your archaeological experience to advise clients as to likely costs and programme implications of dealing with the archaeological issues on their sites. You will also be prepared to negotiate robustly on behalf of your clients with planning archaeologists – when required.

We can offer you a permanent position within a friendly, vibrant and expanding team. You will be able to work flexibly, encouraged to develop your own contacts with your own clients.

You should be a CMIfA – or be eligible to apply within 6 months and have a full driving licence. In addition to the salary CgMs offers a contributory pension scheme, BUPA membership and payment of relevant professional subscriptions.

For an informal discussion please contact Simon Mortimer (01636 642707 or 07730 648636). Applications by CV and covering letter to sarah.cook@cgms.co.uk by Friday 20th March. Interviews to be held during w/c 6th April.
