WEB NEWS - 30TH NOVEMBER 2003 CgMs SUCCESS
The White House, Motspur Park
In 2002 planning permission was refused by The Royal Borough
of Kingston to demolish The White House, Motspur Park and
redevelop the site on the basis that The White House was a
'Building of Townscape Merit'. The building was not situated
in a conservation area, nor was it of 'listable' quality.
The owners of the site subsequently decided to appeal against
this decision. Advice offered by CgMs enabled the developers
to demolish this non-residential building without planning
permission before the matter was considered at a public inquiry
in September. The appeal has been upheld and permission granted
to redevelop the site.
